Local Search Directory Sites Help Local Brick And Mortar Businesses

Directory sites once only meant doing business on the internet. But just very lately in the past few months a new phenomenon has arisen. This is the advent of the local search directory which is highly focussed on listing the business within the city area they are named after.

For example, the Directory of  Toronto and the Directory of Niagara Falls Area are focussed on their respective regions to the benefit of the local businesses. Then on top of that, articles and blogs help businesses in those city areas get found. Think of these sites as directories and magazines combined. Even phone apps are being integrated into the search directories to help local searches.

The result? Net savvy people (there’s a whole generation of teens twenty somethings and the thirty something pretenders) who use the phone like a directory and search on the net. Oh yes, about these searches, it seems the yellow pages is dead (or at least the stats tell that ). But there is a compelling case for that assumption.

I for one can’t really be bothered carrying around that thick yellow book around in my wheelchair. They’re great door stops and foot rests though.

The internet as a business has really come full circle. Local search directories online are really starting to make their presence felt. And I can see that they will make a very significant difference to whether businesses fail or not.

What you will find is that advertising well is also advertising smart. Get that mega bang for your buck. Just think about it for a moment.

* How much does yellow pages cost to advertise within a very limited area without any real web presence – they don’t really help you get found.

* Then if you have a magazine write a review, it will cost you an arm and a leg.

* The 2 Directories as a guide, will cost you a bigger bang than these 2 media methods combined and cost you less than 10%!!! This is about adverstising smart and save $$$!

And for those eco conscious people, online directories do not kill any trees. Ask how many forests paper media destroy and you’ll cringe.

Ah, maybe this is just the ramblings of a guy in a wheelchair. But from where I sit and on a limited budget, that kind of smart eco friendly spending really gets my vote.
